Abstract People of Refugee background face many challenges when entering Australian shores. A programmer called Refugee Action Support has identified that the teaching methods that are presently offered and taught today is inappropriate for people of Refugee backgrounds. Supported by University of Western Sydney, this programmer is hoped to be introduced too schools, universities and the wider community. Ell heck Teachers, Lecturers and community leaders are thought to be the front line examples to teach these students about English literacy, Innumeracy and the Australian culture. This approach encourages student and teacher relationship based on the experiences faced by people of refugee background. Keywords Refugee – a person fleeing religious persecution, political oppression and/or war. And seeks to find safe refuge in a new country. Culture – a person or group of people whose beliefs are socially transmitted through their behavior, arts, religion ND other functions of human work and thought patterns. Background – a person experience, origin, education, relating to that person character and/or status. 2. Core Refugees face many barriers. They enter into a new country with very limited English making communication and translation hard and often misunderstood. To teach refugees knowledge of Australian Laws, Education, Employment opportunities, Health Care and Centerline entitlements, is a long and lengthy process. This process can only be done at the pace of the refugee. Services are short in supply and are enable to keep up with the influx of Refugees arriving too Australian shores. This makes the experiences of refugees very hard to cope with whilst living here. It is believed that this can be taught at our schools and universities – education and employment opportunities. Throughout the years, barriers to education and employment have not improved. The programmer identifies the urgent need too not approach the teaching method being taught at all schools and universities too students of refugee backgrounds. Most refugees arrive from Africa and the Middle East.
Comment meaning, it refers too prisoners coming out of incarceration back into civilian life and the same for men and women leaving our military forces. Striping a person of ones identity and personality then learning new attitudes required for entering back, a new socially accepted, lawful abiding citizen. Refugees do this. I imagine they would feel like prisoners in a new country and having to learn the laws and culture of Australian society. Conclusion It is clear that Australian schools are ill equipped to cope with the difficulties faced by refugee students transitioning to our schools. Programmers like RASA that are introduced too schools-communities and higher learning facilities, not only increases opportunities for these students but also equips them to a life of self sufficiency as they live their lives here as Australian residents.
